Despite failing to qualify...
...there was a definite sense of progress...
Team JIC: Koichi Yamashita
JIC entered D1's first RX-8, powered by an FD3S engine. Expectations and attention were high, but the hurried build left no time for setup. Judged practice became its shakedown, leaving Yamashita a difficult task.

A closer look at the build
The front mid mounted engine is an FD3S 13B-REW, built by rotary specialists ERC. A T04Z turbo gives roughly 530 PS peak output.
The coilovers are specially configured from production parts. The rear arrangement improves maintenance access. JIC arms and pillow ball joints are used throughout. Event spring rates were 12 kg/mm front and 8 rear.
