A skilled driver who also finished near the top individually! The extended hood and fenders were made from unidentified aftermarket FRP parts. The engine is an S14 SR20DET with a mixed-flow turbo. 'It combines old-school styling with modern parts. Isn't a long nose paired with a GT wing a fresh combination?' says Nishioka. Even the hood pins use old-style wire retainers...

The Silvia snakes along slowly, revving theatrically, while the Laurel closes in with emergency light and siren at full blast.
Realistic
This car is an event special! 'We're pursuing realism: the emergency light and siren are genuine!' says an enthusiastic Toyoda. It isn't a complete costume, but blue coveralls, a white open-face helmet, and sunglasses give him the traffic-police look.

The Laurel has controls for its emergency light and siren...
The hood was extended by about 10 cm. Builder Matsuda says an FRP hood is easier to modify than a standard one. Long noses used to be a classic street-custom feature, but are rarely seen now. The Impul and Tomei logos add period flavor.

It's genuinely serious underneath, with an SR20DET swap! The exterior is an event special, but the mechanical setup is a committed drift build. The swapped SR20DET is boosted by a GT2530 turbo. In the foreground is Matsuda, who runs a shop in Matsuyama, Ehime; he built both the Laurel and the Silvia.
The exhaust has dramatically upswept twin outlets. Its pairing with the curved GT wing makes a strangely harmonious combination. Naturally, the exhaust is extremely loud.

Police-style lettering on the body side! Even the typeface looks authentic.
