This unusual gauge does not directly measure toe. It marks tire positions on the ground and derives alignment from the distances between them. It takes a little work, but can even measure thrust angle when used well, making it appealing to enthusiasts who want more detail.
These gauges are much more accurate than the tape measure method shown earlier. Professionals use similar simple gauges away from the workshop. Their measurements can be quite precise.
