Staged or real? What's happening here? At ten at night in a Tokyo studio, cameraman Zaku shouts excitedly as a blushing model poses with tuning parts.
After three hours, filming finally ends. This is Video Option's long running mail order segment, a regular feature in V-OPT and Drift Tengoku videos. These video and DVD sales commercials combine major D1 drivers and tuning personalities with the playful receptionists.
The exchanges look staged but are partly real. Familiar stars including Nomuken, Taniguchi and Kazama have appeared.
The segment shows D1 drivers in unusual moments: Taniguchi blurts out his mobile address, Nomuken calls internationally from America, and Zaku looks forward to filming each month. Appearing is supposedly a sign that a D1 driver has become a star, since recognizable personalities make the commercials entertaining. But the main message is to use the convenient order line!
Current V-OPT and Drift Tengoku videos and many back issues are available. The V-OPT The Best collector editions are mail order exclusives. Releases include No. 1 Go!
Go! Daijiro's Great Adventure, No. 2 Akira's Tuned AE86 Workbox, plus this month's No. 3 Mito Natto Racing Special and No. 4 2003 D1GP On Board Camera Special. Call to order; you might even speak to one of the mail order women.
